The standard
This website, the office application and the driver app are built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1, level AA. That is the level Ontario’s accessibility law asks of an organization our carriers’ size and the level United States practice has settled on, so it is the one we hold ourselves to on both sides of the border.
What is done
- Everything can be reached and operated from a keyboard, in the order it appears on the page, with a visible focus.
- Every control has a label, every image that carries meaning has a description, and decorative ones are hidden from a screen reader.
- Text and its background meet the contrast ratio the standard asks for, on the dark plate and on the paper alike.
- Status is never shown by colour alone. A load that is late says so in words, an amber chip has a label, and the invoice a customer receives carries no meaning in colour.
- The driver app was designed for a yard: large targets, high contrast, one button for the one thing that makes sense now.
- Motion on this site settles once and does not loop, and is turned off entirely when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Pages are laid out so that text can be enlarged and the page reflows instead of clipping.
What is not yet
- The invoice and settlement PDFs are not tagged PDFs, so a screen reader cannot follow their structure. The same figures are available on screen, in the product, in a form that can be read.
- A full audit by a third party has not been done. We test with a keyboard, a screen reader and an automated checker on every release, and we know that is not the same thing.
- Some status chips in the driver app carry a colour and a symbol but not yet a word; that is being fixed.
